To Worthington City Council and community members,
On behalf of the Worthington Area Chamber Board of Trustees, I express our urgent concern over the announcement of Worthington Steel and its impact on our community.
While we respect their business decision and thank them for their countless contributions to our community, this moment calls for immediate action. Our Council, and future elected leaders, must prioritize crafting a bold plan to address land use opportunities and set a plan that supports our City staff’s economic development efforts now and not just wait on the comprehensive plan.
We cannot risk further business losses like this. Worthington must remain a thriving business community. This recent loss highlights the need for decisive action.
Worthington must evolve to meet regional demands and compete with our central Ohio counterparts. It's time to reject complacency and envision a Worthington that aligns with modern business needs. Our tax base demands growth and diversification now.
It is time to engage in meaningful discussions throughout our community and ensure those who stifle progress no longer control the conversation.
Our community missed enough opportunities because of a few opinions that do not reflect the growing needs of today. Now is the time for a renewed commitment to our future and with an intentional plan that prepares us for a brighter day that is ready to answer the needs of our businesses.
We stand at a pivotal moment in our history. Let us engage in meaningful, decisive conversations about our future. Worthington needs proactive leadership to seize this opportunity and ensure a prosperous future. Success lies at the intersection of commerce and community.
We look forward to your commitment to building a stronger, more resilient Worthington.
